My Projects
Although this page does not include all of my work, it includes the pieces I am most proud of. I've included short descriptions of each project underneath the titles. You may click the titles or the icons to be directed to the entire document. To view all of my games, please visit my itch.io page here.

01
My thesis, "Disco Elysium’s Insulindian Phasmid: the End of Harry Du Bois" was awarded superior honors following the success of my defense. It was a three semester project, where I spent the first semester forming my literature review, the second semester collecting my datasets, and my third semester writing my findings and discussion.
02
Utilizing RPG Maker MV, I created an interactive video game that could be played on any web browser on a computer or mobile device. The player is able to travel to the writing center, finding many MC landmarks along their way. Once there, they are able to virtually meet and select their tutors and finally face against their writing assignment, learning about the center along the way.
03
During the Mississippi Writing Center Association yearly conference, I presented for 20 minutes on how video games can be utilized to improve a center's outreach, and I use the process of creating a video game for my center as an example. I also presented a 10 minute version of this presentation at the SWCA conference.
04
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Kerri Jordan of MC through an independent study where she gave me feedback during the creation of my own Twine game. I believe Twine finds an incredible balance between video games and traditional forms of literature, and I am proud of how I utilized the platform to create my own interactive narrative.
05
At MC, all seniors in English Writing must enroll in ENG 471, Advanced Research and Composition, where they will create a semester long research project. My project, "A Discourse Analysis of the Appearance of Glitch-alikes in Twine Horror Games" analyzed five games and how they used glitches to impact their own narratives.
06
"Cow Story" is a fictional short story I wrote, portraying my interpretation of Laura Gilpin's "Two-Headed Calf." This piece won first place for the short story category in MC's arrowhead art magazine. Although I intensely value interactive narratives, I think any narrative warrants study, and my practice of standard narrative creation benefits my study of interactive ones.
07
While I was an embedded tutor for the MC tutor preparation course, I lead an in-class discussion about the Writing Center's website. When I was hired as the Outreach Specialist, the revision of the website became my primary focus, improving the content and organization of the site. Highlights include a Q&A section, more information regarding how sessions work, and numerous photos showcases our space and tutors.
08
Through a Digital Animation class at MC, I became proficient in After Effects and created numerous animated graphics. Although some of the graphics included step-by-step instructions from the book, others are purely original animations (although the graphics may have been given freely). My favorite example of which can be found here.
09
For the final project of Graphic Design 2, every student designed their own Christmas card designs. I compiled publicly accessible film photos and designed Christmas cards around them.
10
For MC's senior level Shakespeare course, we were tasked with creating a bibliography for our chosen play. Here, I analyze eight sources from an objective criteria. I utilize highlighters to keep myself organize and to clearly structure my objective review of each source.
11
As part of MC's English Literature capstone course, I analyzed Part 2, Chapter 2 of Neil Larsen's Passing and placed my analyze within the scholarly conversation surrounding the novel. Although I think it's important to analyze interactive text, analysis of standard text is still important as well.
12
After my undergraduate thesis was written, it had to be successfully defended for me to be awarded honors. I used this presentation as the foundation for my defense, and I'm especially proud of its level of polish and smooth transitions. My defense was beyond successful, receiving superior honors.
13
For the final project of MC's senior level British Romantics course, I compared the viewpoints of three poets, regarding the issue of prison reform.
14
"Crying Wolves" is a lengthy prose I wrote during MC's creative writing class. It won honorable mention for short story in MC's Arrowhead art magazine. Although I do not intend to pursue creating poetry as a career, I think reading and writing in a variety of genres can improve any writer's ability.
13
This personal project involved me tracking all of the past "big brothers" of members of Shawreth Men's Club and visualizing their entire lineage onto one document. Although the content itself is not useful in my career, learning how to visual a such a large quantity of data is incredibly useful.
13
To analyze my incredibly large dataset, I utilized a Google Sheet to organize and sort my data, later using my sorted datasets to visualize my information into numerous charts. I also utilized Microsoft Excel to finalize my charts, which can be viewed here.
